《礼记．曲礼上》:丧事先远日。孔颖达疏:卜先从远日而起，示不宜急僥，伸孝心也。《左传．宣公八年》:礼，卜葬先远日，辟不怀也。杨伯峻注:卜葬者，卜葬日也。先远日者，此月下旬先卜来月下旬，不吉则卜中旬，又不吉则卜上旬，由远日而及近日。盖古人以为父母既葬，其哀渐夺，非孝子之所欲，由于不得已而为，故卜葬期先远日，表示不急于求葬，微伸孝心耳。后以先远指葬日。
