劉銘傳 liú míng chuán人名。西元1836～1895字省三，安徽省合肥人，清末军事家和政治家。刘氏性情豪爽，文武兼备，同治年间随李鸿章平定太平天国、捻乱。光绪十年西元1884，刘氏两度击退法军，使台湾转危为安。后台湾改设行省，出任首任巡抚。任内针对时势，推行新政，设西学堂、抚定番人、开拓山林、奖励农畜、开发矿产等，尤其致力于煤矿、轮船、电信、铁路等四大建设，奠定台湾现代化的基础。病卒，享年六十，谥号壮肃。著有《大潜山房诗集》。 |
