人名。字子牙，东海人。本姓姜，其先封于吕，从其封姓，故称为「吕尚」。周初贤臣，年老隐于钓，周文王出猎，遇于渭水之阳，相谈甚欢，曰：「吾太公望子久矣。」因号「太公望」。载与俱归，立为师。后佐武王克殷，封于齐，后世称为「姜太公」。也称为「吕望」、「姜尚」。
