我国古代印花染色的方法﹐唐以后更为普遍。用两块木板雕刻同样花纹﹐将绢布对折夹入二板中﹐然后在雕空处染色﹐成为对称的染色花纹。后来发展为用镂花油纸版涂色刷印。其染成的织物叫夹缬。一种古代印花染色的方法。始于秦、汉之际，唐代以后非常普遍。用两块木板雕刻同样图案的花纹，再将绢布对折夹入二板中，然后在雕空处染色，成为对称的染色花纹。后发展为用镂花油纸版涂刷印。所染成的织物也称为「夹缬」。
