释义	平民院 píng mín yuàn又译众议院。某些国家议会下议院的名称。在英国，由于封建统治阶级内部的分化和各等级利害的不同，议会于1343年开始分设上、下两院，上院叫贵族院，下院叫平民院，是封建等级代表机关。平民院由郡和城市选出的骑士、商人等组成。在资产阶级掌握政权后，平民院成为资产阶级的代表机关。
