cāo jiāng
明代官名。全称提督操江﹐以副佥都御史为之﹐领上下江防之事。清顺治元年沿置﹐兼巡抚安、徽、宁、池、太、广﹐驻安庆。至康熙元年省操江所部十二营﹐改隶总督。始置安徽巡抚。因明代操江以副佥都御史为之﹐故亦有操江御史、操江都御史之称。在江上操练兵卒。
