古代七夕时的一种风俗。七夕时的习俗，将豆或小麦浸在水中使其生芽，再用红蓝色的彩线捆束，称为「种生」。
又以菉豆、小豆、小麦于磁器内以水浸之，生芽数寸，以红蓝彩缕束之，谓之种生。
宋．孟元老⎣又以菉豆、小豆、小麦于磁器内以水浸之，生芽数寸，以红蓝彩缕束之，谓之‘种生’。皆于街心彩幙帐设出络货卖。⎝《东京梦华录．卷八．七夕》
也称为「种五生」。
