紅藻
hóng zǎo
一类多数营附着生活的水藻。绝大多数为多细胞，有叶状、丝状、带状、树枝状等，极少数为单细胞。藻体呈紫红、鲜红色，除叶绿素外，含类胡萝卜素和藻红素，能进行光合作用。已知有4000种左右，绝大多数生活在海洋中，少数分布于淡水中，经济价值较大。徐刚
因所含的色素不同而分为蓝藻、绿藻、红藻，各种色彩的藻类空前繁盛，可以说是海洋史上空前绝后的彩色波浪时代。
